Mr Chair,
1 My delegation has once again abstained in the vote on the resolution on ‘The Situation of human rights in the Syrian Arab Republic’. This is in line with our principled position on the country-specific human rights resolutions in the Third Committee, as these resolutions are highly selective and driven by political considerations. As we also explained in an earlier intervention, our voting position is not based on the substance of any human rights issues raised in this resolution.
2 Thank you, Mr Chair.
